Six hundred applicants, 10 finalists and one weekend at Commando Training Centre later, we‘ve found our Man of the Year!
Meet Matthew Bee, a 22-year-old tree surgeon from Lincolnshire and winner of the ZOO and Royal Marines Commando ‘Are You Man Enough?’ competition, plus recipient of our biggest prize haul ever - £3,000 goodie bag of techno gadgets – and a flight in a Royal Navy Hawk jet!
The Grand Final was close-run and a fitting test of physical ability and willpower. Consistency proved the key over the weekend as newly crowned men’s champion Matt Bee snatched the title by four points.
Playing out like a decathlon of manliness, our finalists faced 10 point-scoring assessments of mega proportions. Apart from two bonus rounds which offered extra points, the rest of the assessments had a scoring system of 20 points for the winner and descended by two for every position thereafter, so that 2nd place got 18 points, 3rd 16 and so on.
