Elite Commandos
The Royal Marines are a highly trained, specialised force capable of operating anywhere in the world – on land, from the sea or from the air. As a key component of the United Kingdom's Rapid Reaction Force, they stand ready to deploy at a moment’s notice in support of UK military operations, or to carry out peacekeeping duties, provide disaster relief and help police the seas. Royal Marines can carry out all these roles because they are a team of highly trained professionals. Commando training is the longest basic infantry training programme of any NATO combat troops.
State of Mind
A determination to overcome adversity, no matter what it may be, and the discipline and strength of character to be able to endure tough conditions and think under pressure, sets the Royal Marines apart from typical soldiers.
What sort of person becomes a Royal Marine?
Not supermen, but those that have a good level of fitness and the right State of Mind. Potential recruits must have the desire to push themselves to their full potential, and the energy and adaptability to train to earn the Royal Marines' coveted Green Beret and to enjoy all that a career in the Corps has to offer.
